Do We Serve Alcohol in Store?

No. And here’s why.

It’s a question I get asked sometimes — and I completely understand why. Dress shopping is such a special moment. It’s emotional, exciting, sometimes overwhelming… and a little champagne can feel like it fits the occasion perfectly.

But at Leah S, we don’t serve alcohol. And that’s a very intentional decision.

Why do some bridal stores serve alcohol?

Let’s be honest.

Alcohol relaxes people. It lowers inhibitions. It makes everything feel a little more fun, a little more “yes!”

Maybe you came in knowing you wanted sleeves… and now you’re considering strapless.
Maybe your budget was $1,600… and suddenly you’re trying on gowns over $3,000.
Maybe your bridesmaids are saying, “THIS is the one!” and the bubbly buzz makes it all feel extra… something.

Your bridesmaids will love it.
I’ll love the sale too.

But do you know who might not love it later on reflection?

You. The bride.

Dress shopping isn’t a party — it’s a serious decision.

Bridesmaids can get rowdy when they’re sober. Add alcohol, and things can escalate quickly. Mindfulness goes out the window. Thoughtless comments get made. Conversations drift. By the third dress, the focus isn’t fully on you anymore — it’s on topping up glasses.

What should be a meaningful moment can slowly turn into a party… and you’re just trying to make one of the biggest wardrobe decisions of your life.

That doesn’t sit right with me.

Ethically, I can’t do it.

My job is to help you make a clear, confident decision — not one influenced by pressure, excitement, or alcohol.

I want you grounded. I want you present. I want you choosing your dress because you feel beautiful, comfortable, and completely yourself — not because the room is full of bubbling energy.

And then there’s the practical side…

Champagne and white dresses are not friends.
If even a little spills, the gown needs professional cleaning. That affects the dress, the next bride, and ultimately would mean higher consultation fees to cover the risk.

I’d rather keep your appointment relaxed, focused, and safe for you and the gowns — without having to increase costs for everyone.

Dress shopping should feel special. Emotional. Joyful.

But it should also feel clear.

When you say yes at Leah S, I want it to be because you truly mean it — and you’ll still mean it the next morning.

And that to me is worth more than a glass of champagne.

P.S To celebrate after saying yes – the Hallam hotel is just around the corner and Indra Thai at Fountain gate has a huge catalogue of yummy cocktails.
