Can I wear a coloured wedding dress.

Absolutely. Your wedding dress doesn’t have to be white or ivory. It should feel like you.

I’ve designed plenty of traditional gowns, but I love seeing what happens when colour comes into the mix. Sometimes it’s a dramatic black gown. Sometimes it’s a soft blush or latte tone, coloured lace, or a floral detail. It doesn’t have to be a head-to-toe statement to make your dress feel different.

How much colour do you want?

Start with the look you’re drawn to. Would you love a gown that’s clearly colourful, or would you feel more comfortable with a hint of colour beneath ivory lace? You could also look at floral details or a softer shade through the skirt.

There’s no right answer. Your venue or wedding theme can give you ideas, but they don’t need to dictate what you wear.

Try the colour on in person

A colour can look quite different on a screen, in a fabric swatch and in a finished gown. If you can, see it in person and notice how it looks beside your skin and in natural light. Think about the parts of the dress you want to stand out, too. A coloured underlay can make lace pop, while a bold shade can become the feature all on its own.

If you’re interested in a particular shade, ask which styles can be made or ordered in colour. Options depend on the gown, so it’s best to check with us before settling on a design.

You don’t have to follow tradition

Some brides know straight away that white isn’t for them. Others start by trying on ivory and find they’re curious about a bit more colour. Either way, have fun with it. The right dress is the one you feel happy and confident wearing—not the one you think you’re supposed to choose.
