Can I wear a coloured wedding dress.
Leah S Designs is now designing wedding dresses in black, blush pink, latte, and champagne. Leah loves coloured dresses now, after 14 years of making dresses in white and ivory. We spoke with her to uncover more about the gorgeous coloured wedding dresses currently available on her website.
Leah started incorporating colour in the gowns about six years ago, creating an all purple dress. Now, her coloured range has expanded to over ten different styles! If you would like to give your wedding a unique touch, go with a dash of color in your outfit. Leah believes that champagne with ivory gives off an especially couture look and feel.
Ivory bridal lace over Latte coloured dresses trend
Trendspotting from American designers and taking in her customers’ feedback led her to finally incorporate a range of fashion shades into her fashion label. She follows European brands on Instagram and noticed many ‘ivory lace over nude’ going on, took inspiration and created the Aspen and Kai wedding dresses in those two tones.
“As a designer, you learn very quickly which tones are safe to use. You can’t go wrong with neutrals – for example, blush or pink gowns have the power to warm up a cool skin tone. The latte can make you look more tan, and the champagne can even out your skin tone if you’re on the darker side.”

From our previous interview with Leah, we found out that she LOVES the dramatic look of black gowns, and she even displayed a black ballgown outside her store! She told us that wearing black would be a “rebel statement” because it’s unexpected. If Leah could only wear ONE colour for the rest of her life, she would wear black, black, and MORE BLACK. She was seriously considering only having black and white clothes a few years ago!

When asked about her thoughts on multi-colored dresses, Leah explained that she’s been highly keen on doing a multi-tone pink and ivory design. She also shared that Leah S Designs’ designers are experimenting with every type of dye they can find. For now, she’s trying out different looks with pink coloured lace, so keep an eye out for it in her following collection!
The inspiration behind her latest photoshoot was to experiment with popular styles but making them up in black instead of ivory. This was a creative decision, inspired by the Time’s Up movement, to conduct a collaborative photoshoot at the Melbourne Botanical Gardens. Modeled by Elizabeth Anne, photographed by six-star photography, makeup by Donna Lee, hair by Amanda Durrington, and flowers by Foxy evergreen.
