Our Story

Once upon a time, a girl lived in a barn in the little town of Pakenham. By day, she worked tirelessly at her keyboard in an office, always half-asleep and dreaming of designing dresses. By night, she served drinks, her mind filled with visions of beautiful gowns.

Leah imagined all styles of dresses—long, flowing designs, regal A-line gowns, and whimsical boho styles. But above all, she dreamed of creating the ultimate wedding dress: long ballgowns adorned with intricate lace. There was a lot of time spent staring longingly into the windows of Melbourne wedding dress shops, checking out European runways, and hoping her day would come.

One day, an imp appeared and said, “I can make all your dreams come true.” He was from a land called the Bendigo Bank. All he wanted in return was the girl’s soul (and a moderate interest rate).
With his help—and a touch of borrowed fairy dust—Leah S Designs was born in 2001.

Starting small, Pakenham was the ideal place to begin. After a few years of honing her skills, Pakenham became too small, so it was time to explore other Melbourne suburbs. We needed a space to house our workrooms and showroom. Lonsdale Street in Dandenong was perfect, so we packed up and moved, then after 7 years, moving again and settled in our current location at 3/ 167 Princes highway in Hallam.
