Your Ultimate Emergency Guide: What to Stash for Your Wedding Day
Most brides have at least one terrifying dream before they get married. Whether it’s showing up to the chapel in the wrong wedding dress, fainting at the altar, suffering the worst hair day on record, or getting in a fight with mum, we all have our own unique fears and insecurities. No wedding is perfect, and something is bound to go wrong. Reasonable expectations can help you manage this with style and grace, rather than being reduced to a sobbing puddle of tulle.
Of course, as with all things in life, the prepared just do better when things go awry. We suggest putting together a bag of emergency supplies so that a minor crisis doesn’t become a full-scale emergency. Your needs will vary, of course, so if you have a medical issue or other concern that frequently becomes a problem, pack appropriate items. At minimum, we suggest putting the following in your bag:
Makeup remover towelettes
Stain remover towelettes
An extra pair of underwear
Clear nail polish
An extra pair of panty hose
Pain reliever, such as ibuprofen
An extra charger for your phone
Several snacks, ideally high in protein and calories to keep you from fainting from exhaustion and hunger
Cash and your identification
A pair of flat shoes
Extra earring backs
A copy of your vows, a list of the order of events, and any other information you might need to remember where you need to be and what you should do
Consider the emergencies you have had in the past—a run in panty hose? And plan for the worst. It’s unlikely to come to fruition, but knowing that you are prepared for even the worst case scenario can ease your mind on this all-important day.
